I am currently a third-year student at the University of York studying for a ‘BSc in Film and Television Production’. Since being at the university I have discovered my love for live programming. My career goal is to become a script supervisor for as-live/live nonfiction programs such as Britain's Got Talent or Strictly Come Dancing.
I am extremely interested in producing live/as-live non-fiction TV. I am currently the production manager and script supervisor of my final year university TV show. I came up with the idea of a new unique game show, that alongside a team has been developed into three episodes. We have created puzzles similar to Crystal Maze and designed a set in order to produce the show. Through this process I have casted contestants, hosts and actors, sourced locations and scheduled/budgeted the production process for both studio days and VT shoots.
I love working on these types of programs as I am extremely confident working under pressure. Live television has a constant aspect of urgency and excitement which is an environment I thrive in. As producer and production manager on a variety of university work (projects and promotional work), I have become extremely detail oriented as one mistake could mean the whole program falling apart.
My degree has allowed me to produce and direct many short films and live TV shows from concept to product. This experience has taught me the importance of every aspect of production from paperwork, to makeup. This freedom has allowed me to develop my knowledge of pre-production, production and post-production enough to feel extremely comfortable with paperwork and development in the industry, however I would love to put my skills to the test in industry. I am extremely interested in following the editorial path of TV to becoming a script supervisor.
Outside of my degree, I am the president and women’s team captain of the University of York Fencing Club, this experience has taught me about leadership, and the production of a successful club. These skills are extremely interchangeable in TV, making sure I am very detail oriented and manage my time correctly. Under my committee’s management the club has tripled in size, doubled funding and reached out to fulfill other opportunities including wheelchair fencing and become a university performance sport. I am extremely passionate about the performance of the club and sharing the sport so it is accessible to all. I am going to find it extremely hard to leave it this March. I have fenced for the past 8 years at a competitive level with two years on the international Canadian Team and competed with the UK whilst at University. This experience has allowed me to travel all over the globe which is another of my interests. As a full-time student and international athlete, I am constantly juggling my time. This has forced me to deal with stress directly and prioritize projects with purpose in order to sustain quality/performance across all aspects of my life. Read Less
