Hawes, who is sadly no longer with us.Most of my work has been in Theatre in London and in
Television. The job includes a diverse range of duties, legalities as well as the welfare of the young
people themselves from the ages of 4 years up to 16 years old. I am the first point of contact with
all professional bodies and organisations with issues regarding the young people. These include
liaising with managers, producers, casting agents, agents, company managers, local education
authorities, directors and all appropriate members of the creative team. I am responsible for
overseeing all issues concerning their legal requirements. What a young person is and is not
allowed to do. These include their contractual obligations, health and safety, educational and
schooling requirements etc.
I have worked for
Cameron Mackintosh: Mary Poppins (West End) , Les Miserables, which included a national tour in
the UK and Paris.
Andrew Lloyd-Webber: The Wizard of Oz and Evita (West End).
The Royal Shakespeare Company: Matilda
T.V: Britains Got Talent (ITV) Gotta Dance (Sky1)
Other West End roles include Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!, My Fair Lady for the National Theatre and
The Lion King for Disney Productions. Miss Saigon International Tour.
In the past I have been a live-in chaperone for the RSC's Matilda. This requires 24 hour care and
time-management for the young people. Meeting all their needs both at home, school, social and
recreational needs as well as their work in the theatre. Dealing with anything that may arise on a
daily basis as well as their welfare and ensuring they fulfil their contractual obligations. I also
undertake all the necessary paperwork, reports, and individual arrangements and requirements
with the appropriate professionals, individuals, organisations etc.
It is a deeply challenging yet rewarding job, dealing with so many issues, people and problems.
Clarity in communication is key to ensure a successful, efficient and happy environment for all
concerned. I enjoy a healthy relationship working with people. I believe my strong work ethic,
discipline, understanding and compassion are vital to my own success and in dealing with my
workload as often involves long hours as well as difficult matters that arise.
My personal attributes include: my bubbly personality; compassion, understanding and empathetic
nature; punctuality, being reliable, responsible, trustworthy, honest and loyal; tactful, sensitive and
caring; discipline, ethics and strength; as well as a sense of humour.
My other experience involves my voluntary work with TDM'S Dance School in Port Talbot and
Llanelli Youth Theatre. This has included being involved in choreography, performance and
management. In a managerial capacity I have been involved in the personal and social
development of the young people, including their welfare and child protection policies. I am also
involved in the usual committee / management responsibilities of fundraisng, social events and
performance.
