My name is Max Garland. I am 21 years old from Scotland. Apart from films and tv, I enjoy reading, music, playing sports, spending time with family and friends, and walking my dogs on the beach.
Ever since i was little i have had a strong passion and love for the art of storytellling. I acted in theatre productions throughout childhood and into univeristy. I started acting on screen at university where i got my first experience on film sets and being in front of the camera. I fell in love with filmmaking and contributed as much as i could to helping make student films while studing my Georaphy degree. I first love was acting, which also allowed my the opportuntiy to observe and learn from many other roles invovled in the process of making a film. I began to take on roles behind the camera too such as being a crew member, helping edit scripts, producing and being 1st and 2nd AD. these roles as well as acting were through mostly student films, and a few independant films. Because i did not take filmmkaing as a degree, all my learning was through a practical experience on the job which i beelive is the best way to learn rather than in a lecture room. I was thrown into the deep end and had to learn and adapt. I welcomed the challenge. I took an intenive acting and filmmaking course at the National Youth Film Academy in 2022 and recieved acting training at LAMDA in 2023. I have tried extreemly hard to network over the last few years and have managed to build up a big, valauble list of very talented people i have met and worked with who all bring different skills and expericnes to sets. 
I recently came to the decison that i did not want acting and filmmaking to be a side passion which it mosty was, but i wanted a career in the film inustry, which looking back now, I feel has been my calling for about 5 years. There are many roles I am interested in persuing such as production roles, producing, and casting. I am very much a people-person as i find it easy and a pleasure working with many people and socialising. The filmmkaing expericnes i have has taught me so much about teamwork and leadership. I love to collaborate with a creative group of people who all bring differnt skills to the table and work together to create art. Storytellling is one of the most powerufl forces that can create an array of emotions and change how people think, as well as educate. this is why i want a career in this industry, knowing you are part of something way bigger than yourself that has meaning.
