As a young person with a passion for politics I think it is crucial for all sides of politics to be represented and reported. Whether it’s politics or other aspects of life I am hungry to gain some more experience in reporting local news stories.
I am a confident individual and I hope to pursue a career in journalism.I run an Instagram blog called “Let’s Blether” which I created to help people during the midst of the pandemic. After losing my dad to cancer in June last year, I have focused upon raising awareness about taboo subjects such as grief. I also host virtual support group meetings for other young people who are grieving. I have worked along side STV, Sky News and BBC Scotland to help me open the conversation surrounding these difficult topics. I recently launched “Blether Boxes” with South Ayrshire Council to help primary school children that are grieving a loved one. These boxes include toys, books and activities to support a child who is struggling with bereavement.I have recently joined the board of the Subgroup on Mental Health and Wellbeing services with the Scottish Government. I attend meetings with advisors on this group and I represent the views of young people struggling with their mental health.I enjoy charity work and I have recently become an ambassador for Ayrshire Cancer Support and Worldwide Cancer Research.
