About the Role
We are looking for a creative, highly organised Podcast Producer to join the team behind an established and growing history podcast exploring the hidden, controversial, and lesser-known stories from the past.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for history, strong editorial instincts, and experience in factual storytelling. You will help shape compelling episodes from initial research through to final delivery, working closely with contributors, and the wider production team to create engaging and immersive audio content.
The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in history and current conversations around historical interpretation, mystery, conspiracy, archaeology, war, espionage, and untold stories.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial & Story Development
• Research and develop episode ideas aligned with the tone and themes of Forbidden History
• Identify compelling historical angles, narratives, and contributors
• Shape factual stories into engaging audio narratives with strong hooks and clear structure
• Work with contributors to develop scripts, interview questions, and episode outlines
Production
• Produce and oversee podcast recordings, both in-studio and remote
• Conduct contributor research and pre-interviews
• Source archive audio, music, and supporting material where appropriate
• Ensure factual accuracy and editorial quality throughout production
Editing & Post-Production
• Edit episodes to a high standard, ensuring strong pacing, clarity, and storytelling flow
• Mix dialogue, music, and archive material effectively
• Deliver final masters to platform specifications
Organisation & Workflow
• Help manage production schedules and episode delivery timelines
• Maintain contributor records, research notes, and production documentation
• Coordinate with hosts and external talent where necessary
Skills and Experience Required
• Experience producing podcasts, documentaries, radio, or factual audio content
• Strong storytelling and editorial instincts
• A genuine interest in history and lesser-known historical subjects
• Excellent research skills and attention to detail
• Confident audio editing and recording skills (Adobe Premier Pro, Da Vinci Resolve, Riverside FM.
• Strong organisational and communication skills
