BBC Studios' The One Show is looking for an experienced Post Production Operator to join the team. 

The role is based in London and the contract dates are 13th April to 26th June.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:
•	Advise production staff on all aspects of ingest, delivery and related post production requirements and assist with the operational planning and preparation for nominated productions.
•	Contribute to technical review and the planning and development of post-production workflows.
•	Contribute to planning of ingest and transfer of jobs for The One Show
•	Undertake operational tasks, including ingest and copying of various media formats, line feed recordings, playouts to remote destinations, autoconforms, format conversions, file transfers, legalising and other procedures.
•	Undertake basic editing tasks without supervision, such as rough cuts, assemblies and fixes to transmission masters.
•	Conduct Technical Review of broadcast programmes to any agreed delivery specification (including SD and HD) and Quality Assessment Review (QAR) or similar processes for commercial deliveries.
•	Assist with the preparation, set-up and maintenance of editing and ancillary equipment for productions.

ESSENTIAL:
•	Experience of a wide range of HD and SD file formats, as well as historical tape formats
•	Knowledge of file-based production processes and content production systems. 
•	Good working Knowledge of Avid Media Composer, Avid Nexis storage. 
•	Understanding of the fundamentals of audio and video, including digital technologies and formats
•	Experience with the television production process and broadcast delivery requirements.
•	Understanding of PSE checks, Harding & Baton.
•	Familiarity with the television production process and current broadcast delivery requirements including AS11
•	Ability to plan, organise and administer complicated operational processes and to enter. metadata accurately into relevant business or broadcast systems.
•	Experience of a busy production or similar environment and the ability to work calmly under pressure.
•	Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a wide range of people at different levels.
•	Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to apply them to operational situations.
•	Understanding of Media Shuttle, Handbrake, Dropbox. 
•	Computer literacy.
 
DESIRABLE
•	Demonstrable knowledge of BBC output and that of competitors.
•	Experience of EVS hardware, Adobe Media encoder and other Adobe CC products.

The post involves:

• Providing VT SP leadership for the Topical Team, working closely with the Executive Producer.
• Driving standout topical ideas — finding, assessing, and developing stories from pitch to broadcast
• Working closely with senior studio teams to ensure ideas land editorially and practically
• Leading forward planning and keeping an accurate calendar of upcoming topical moments
• Supporting team scheduling and assigning researchers/directors as needed
• Editorially supporting directors on scripts, shoots and edits
• Stepping in to direct and shoot on location when required
• Edit producing during busy periods, giving clear and constructive editorial notes
• Being fully across risk assessments and signing off those you’ve contributed to

The ideal candidate will have excellent editorial judgement, strong filmmaking skills, confidence working with high profile talent and proven experience delivering deadline-driven factual or magazine content.
