PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
BBC Studios’ Documentary Unit is seeking an experienced Producer/Director, to join the team creating current affairs, special project and arts films for The One Show. This is a full time role, based in Salford, with an on site requirement (when not filming on location) of two days per week.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
You will shape, produce and direct original films with high profile reporters, delivering an existing slate on time and on budget, in close collaboration with the Series Editor. You’ll oversee story development and the production process from scripting to delivery, ensuring strong editorial rigour, balance and compliance with BBC Editorial Guidelines. The role involves effective budget management, forward planning, clear communication, and leading and motivating teams with tact and diplomacy. You’ll also work closely with on air presenters, help develop new talent, and maintain a strong understanding of The One Show’s tone, style and audience.


YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
You’ll be an experienced Producer/Director with a strong track record in short form network television output, including self shooting and managing small teams. You’ll be confident working with Commissioners and senior editorial figures, bringing sound editorial judgement and strong relationship management skills.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Proven experience of shooting on Sony FX6 cameras.
