Responsible AI in Film & TV: Adopting the industry standard with confidence.

AI is becoming an increasingly important part of film and television production but for many experienced production professionals, the challenge is less about learning the latest tools and more about understanding how to use AI responsibly, where it genuinely adds value, and where it does not belong.

In this TM Masterclass, Ahsan Mallick and Kathryn Webb from AIMICI will join Matt for a practical discussion on responsible AI adoption across the screen industries. AIMICI is a UK-based responsible AI organisation for film and television, helping the sector establish a common standard and language for the responsible use of AI.

AIMICI certification is ScreenSkills accredited and has been developed with input from more than 50 screen-industry professionals, with academic support from Bournemouth University and UCL. The course is also approved and supported by Pact, BAFTA, the Production Guild of Great Britain and UK Screen Alliance, with a focus on building lasting competency in areas including AI literacy, governance, copyright, ethics, provenance and transparency.

Rather than focusing on individual AI tools, the session will explore the bigger questions production professionals increasingly need to navigate: Where can AI usefully fit into a production workflow? What are the risks and responsibilities? How should teams think about copyright, disclosure and governance? And what could AI adoption mean for businesses, roles and working practices across the industry? How can you stand out in a competitive job market with the right certification?

The conversation will focus on practical upskilling, demystifying apprehension around job displacement and instead helping attendees build the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about AI.

The 45-minute moderated discussion will be followed by audience questions, with an additional exclusive town hall for TM Pro members offering the opportunity for a more informal and in-depth conversation with the panel.

About the speakers

Ahsan Mallick is the founder of AIMICI and a qualified barrister whose career spans law, policy, technology and venture growth. As a former General Counsel of a NASDAQ-listed financial services and technology company, his work brings a governance and risk perspective to issues including copyright, rights clearance, provenance, disclosure, contractual exposure and responsible AI adoption in production. He now works with screen-industry leaders on practical standards for AI competency and transparency.

Kathryn Webb is Managing Director of AIMICI and has spent more than a decade applying AI in creative and production environments. Her experience includes AI-led work for organisations including Amazon Studios, Nike and Fender, as well as working directly with VFX, animation and post-production teams to assess where generative AI can genuinely add value and where it should not be used. She leads AIMICI’s practical training and regularly speaks to industry audiences about responsible AI in production.
