ScreenSkills is enlisting more than 150 organisations and individuals working in the screen sector to develop a pan-industry skills framework.
The Screen Industries Skills Plan will explore workforce priorities and look at ways of encouraging greater collaboration and addressing common challenges.
Its scope will include examining how improved coordination, clearer pathways and identification of transferable skills will help people looking for work in the screen industry.
ScreenSkills is talking to broadcasters, production companies, independent producers, freelancers, industry bodies, training providers and education partners about contributing to the framework.
The skills plan has been developed via a steering group co-chaired by Raise the Roof Productions managing director Jane Muirhead and Framestore chief executive officer Mel Sullivan alongside five specialist working groups.
“Bringing together voices from across the industry on this scale gives us an opportunity to identify where we can work better together, build on what is already working, and turn that collective expertise into practical action,” said Muirhead.
“The Screen Industries Skills Plan is about creating a more coordinated approach that supports people across the workforce and ensures our sector has the skills it needs to continue to thrive.”
ScreenSkills’ executive chair Lisa Opie encouraged organisations to engage with the plan as it developed and to “continue working together to build the skilled, inclusive workforce our industry needs in the future”.
The organisation detailed the plan ahead of newly-appointed chief executive Sinead Rocks’ arrival next month.
