  • The Role of the Edit Director - how it differs from editing your own rushes, why it's come about, what tools are at your disposal
  • First Steps - identifying your programme's DNA; developing and delivering a collective vision for a first series - or updated series - when there's no template
  • Managing material and the work-flow for different types of programme (rig shows, multi-camera, single camera)
  • How to find good sync and good characters
  • Using Forscene: how to use, and get the best from, Forscene, the leading video post-production software
  • How to timetable and structure your time in the edit - including viewings
  • Managing - and troubleshooting - relations with the rest of the production team - including Execs, SPs, PDs and location directors
  • How to write comms, add music, ask for pickups (and direct them if necessary)
  • How to deal with compliance issues, checking consent and dealing with lawyers
  • How to commission graphics, fact check
  • Running an online
  • How to network and write your CV to get work as an edit producer
By the end of the course you will be confident in using Forscene, the award-winning post-production software, to log and manage your material more efficiently; have a clear methodology for working with other people's rushes - from first steps, working through the material, identifying strong characters, sync and stories; be better able to write good commentary; know how to add music, work with lawyers, commission graphics and run an online.
